2006 Planning Grant Recipients
Asian Arts Initiative
Grant Award: $ 20,000
Planning Project: Planning and research for 2008 Chinatown In/flux: Future Landscape, a community arts project that will engage up to four Asian American artists to create site-specific installations in locations in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. This project will build upon the first iteration of In/Flux, a community-based program of installations that engaged issues of changing neighborhoods and ethnic identity.
InLiquid.com & Basekamp
Grant Award: $ 19,500
Planning Project: Planning and research for Plausible Artworlds, a large-scale international conference and exhibition devoted to collaborative, socially-engaged artists’ projects to be hosted in Philadelphia 2007. Planning activities will include meetings with curatorial, organizational and publication consultants to create an evolving website that will be integral to the exhibition project, and a strategic planning retreat to be held at Basekamp for local and international participants.
Institute of Contemporary Art
Grant Award: $ 20,000
Planning Project: Planning and research for The Puppet Show, which will bring together contemporary artworks in many different media that explore the imagery and symbolism of puppets. The ICA and The Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School, NYC are collaborating on this project and will implement respective public programming at both the List Center and at the University of Pennsylvania.
The Print Center
Grant Award: $ 20,000
Planning Project: Planning and research for Australian Printmakers, an exhibition that will present contemporary prints from Australia, offering a selected, concentrated insight into Australia’s large and vital contemporary printmaking art scene.
