The Goldie Paley Gallery's exhibitions of challenging and innovative work by national and international artists share a common educational goal: to present traditional art in a contemporary context for reevaluation, and contemporary art in an art-historical context for critical review.
"Valie Export: Ob/De+Con(Struction)", is the first major American exhibition to examine the work of this Austrian artist. Beginning in the sixties, Export has continued to break boundaries and develop prototypes. The comprehensive exhibition, catalogue, and symposium explore historical, theoretical, and artist issues that continue to inform contemporary art and culture. Essayist/symposium participants include Robert Fleck, Gary Indiana, Kristine Stiles, and Chrissie Iles. Export is the fourth artist in the Moore's International Discovery Series.
