Project: LOVE LETTER

First-time PEI grant recipient Mural Arts Program will present a large-scale public art installation with Philadelphia-born artist Stephen Powers. Powers, whose work is highly graphic in nature, has conceived of this installation as a love story, written and painted in 30 parts, that will stretch along a line of rooftops running parallel to the Market-Frankford elevated train line in West Philadelphia. He will work with neighborhood residents to create the text for "LOVE LETTER," and while individual messages will be readable along a 20-block stretch, the story will be read in its entirety only from the train. Also included in the project will be a short film, still photography, a book, and posters; SEPTA TransPasses will also carry Powers' designs for the duration of the project.
