Project: Beyond the Surface: Women in Pop Art 1958-1968 examines a topic that has never been addressed in a significant manner. Traditionally, Pop Art has been male dominated, with the exceptions of Marisol and Pauline Boty. Beyond the Surface will expand this narrowly defined movement and reevaluate the critical reception of Pop Art. In recovering important female artists, the show will enlarge the canon to more accurately reflect the women working internationally during this period. Project Dates: Jan 2010-March 2010
