Project: Bearing Witness, is the Village’s twentieth anniversary exhibition. Along with a series of cultural events, it will bring together, under the direction of artist/curators Joyce Scott and Homer Jackson, a team of local and national visual, literary, and digital artists to create installations and memorial sculptures that honor the North Philadelphia neighborhood icons of Fairhill-Hartranft. Under the banner “Bearing Witness,” the Village, has developed a two-year programmatic theme that incorporates ways for the neighborhood to take ownership of its own storytelling and mythmaking and to share, react, and celebrate the people, places, and values that are most significant to them.
